PVC-U windows

Over 500 Spectus PVC-U windows were chosen for an 11-storey residential build, X1 The Exchange, close to the Media City in Salford Quays. The Spectus Elite 70 bevelled system with 8.8mm laminated acoustic glass and additional EPDM seal was chosen due to visually matching the original aluminium systems as well conforming to the required U-values. The windows are available in 28 colour options.

Windows, balcony and entrance doors
AluK 58BW window, 58BD balcony door and GT55 TB commercial entrance door systems have been specified for Lifetime Homes at Orchard Village. The products were chosen because they complied with Lifetime Homes standards, which included security and being flexible enough to meet the changing needs of current and future occupants. All windows and doors complied to the Secured By Design initiative, with the GT55 TB commercial door systems integrating electric strike access with key fob entry. The products also exceed the current Building Regulations Part L1A minimum U-Value.

Slimline sliding door
Reynaers has enhanced its slimline sliding door Hi-Finity range with an increase in glass surface, with maximum transparency and minimal sight lines. In the latest version of the Hi-Finity system there can now be fixed panels of glass up to 1,200kg and motorised vents up to 750kg. The Reynaers Hi-Finity slim frame doors of 35mm allow a vent height of up to 3.5 metres. The product is available in both double and triple glazing and has achieved the Minergie sustainability label.

Period-style timber windows
Bespoke, period-style timber windows and doors by Lomax and Wood have been specified for the conversion of The Book House offices to 17 private apartments. The wooden sash and casement windows were chosen to keep in with the historic features of the building. Suitable for both new build and conservation projects, the Chelsea and Kensington range has a varied selection of sash windows, flush timber casement windows, and single, bi-folding and timber entrance doors and have U-values that meet current Part L Building Regulations.

Kawneer’s 10D commercial entrance doors were specified for the redevelopment of the Altrincham Interchange in Cheshire. The 10D Door is suitable for light/medium traffic applications and the strength of the tie rod construction means the door provides an economic solution in a variety of markets, including retail, commercial and public sectors. The products were chosen for the expansion of the public transport interchange because they would blend in with the existing architecture.

Mila has launched a CleanTouch anti-microbial version of their Carbon Trust certified Green Reliable Intelligent Polymer (GRIP) espag window handle. Suitable for use in schools, healthcare environments, offices and public buildings, the product is protected with hygienic, anti-microbial silver ion technology. The GRIP espag handle is manufactured from ABS rather than more traditional zinc or aluminium and provides protection against the spread of surface-borne microbes. The product is available in various colours and can be used as part of any commercial design scheme with frames in PVC-U, aluminium or timber.

Patch fitting
Total Door Hardware has launched their latest door closer technology, the Ozone Plus patch fitting. Suitable for frameless tempered glass and wooden doors, the product has an in-built hydraulic system, which can be installed without floor cutting or digging. The Ozone Plus hydraulic patch conforms to EN 1154 standards and has been tested to 500,000 cycles. New door lock cylinders
Door-Stop has launched a selection of new cylinders to its range, consisting of the Ultion cylinder, the Avocet ABS cylinder and the Yale Superior and UAP Zero lift cylinders. The Ultion cylinder is a Sold Secure Diamond accredited lock which meets the highest TS007 standard. Similarly to the Avocet ABS cylinder, the cylinder detects when the lock has been snapped, drilled, or hammered. The Yale Superior and UAP Zero lift cylinders are anti-bump, drill, pick, tamper, torque and force resistant.

Thermal windows
Four London fire stations that were no longer fit for purpose have been updated with HUECK’s thermally insulated aluminium window and door suite, Lambda 77 L. The product range can deliver U-values as low as 1.0 W/m2K, with sash weights of up to 160kg visible/170kg concealed. The system was chosen because of its thermal qualities and is used to minimise the facilities’ environmental impact.

Double doors

PC Henderson has released a new door kit to enhance its Rustic 80 sliding range. Ideal for barn conversions, period properties, or as a feature in a home or workplace, the new kit contains all the hardware needed to specify a two-door Rustic system. The product features exposed steel straps that fasten down the front of the door for support as well as hangers which run along a flat bar track. The product is available in a variety of sizes and finishes.
