With clear references to nearby 19th-century engine sheds, this building expresses a strong industrial geometry that the judges found appealing. They also liked the concept of a faceted “curtain” of blue engineering brick forming the outer skin, with protruding vertical stack-bonded brick fins to provide solar shading.
