Jersey Airport Fire Training Ground, Jersey, Channel Islands

Special permeable clay pavers were chosen for this fire training ground due to their ability to allow contaminated water to pass into underground tanks. Being able to withstand 30-tonne fire engines and the heat generated during exercises were also key specification criteria. The judges were impressed by the scale and scope of this facility, as much as for the consistent and well-constructed clay paved surface.
