Consultant’s former head of PPP joins Barts Health NHS Trust as director

Russell Gates

EC Harris’ head of public private partnerships, Russell Gates, has left the firm to join one of the firm’s health clients, Barts Health NHS Trust.

Gates has joined Barts Health NHS Trust as director of redevelopment and regeneration.

EC Harris has worked for Barts Health NHS Trust for a number of years on a range of projects, believed to include the Trust’s £1bn PFI redevelopment of Royal London and Bart’s hospitals.

It is not known whether Gates ever worked for Barts Health NHS Trust while at EC Harris.

An EC Harris spokesperson said: “We have a number of other PPP experts in the business, including Ed Baldwin and Conor Ellis, who continue to work on a wide range of PPP projects in the UK and abroad.”

Meanwhile it has emerged that EC Harris’ Singapore-based partner James Taylor has departed the firm to become managing director of construction-focussed PR consultant FTI Consulting in Asia.

EC Harris has also confirmed its former head of education Simon Lucas has retired.

Lucas is continuing to do some consultancy work for EC Harris. He was replaced as head of education by Marcus Fagent last year as part of transition arrangements.
