Consultant will carry out environmental impact studies at two possible sites

Consultant Faber Maunsell will help select the site for Aberdeen’s proposed £53m community stadium.

The firm has been commissioned to carry out an environmental impact study at the two possible development sites, the King’s Links near the beach and Loirston Lock in Nigg.

Transport planner SIAS has also been appointed to examine the travel and transport issues.

The scheme is being funded by the Arena Project Team – a partnership of Aberdeen Football Club and the council.

They plan to build a 22,000-seat stadium to house the club by 2012.
