Work at Whittington House slated for spring 2027 completion

Faithdean has been appointed to carry out the work to refurbish a 1970s office block in the West End called Whittington House.

Great Portland Estates said earlier this week that it had now won planning for the work from Camden council, adding it wants the job to be finished by spring 2027.

It was designed in the early 1970s by Richard Seifert with GPE hailing the proposal as “an exciting opportunity to create an outstanding HQ workspace”. GPE bought the scheme last autumn for £58.5m.

The scheme will include a rooftop pavilion

Faithdean, which is carrying out work to transform the former Fenwick store on New Bond Street, will create a new rooftop pavilion and terrace and increase floor space by over 1,000sq ft as well as provide new terraces. Improved amenities include a reimagined ground floor entrance and end-of-trip facilities.

The approved plans, which have been drawn up by architect Barr Gazetas, retain the existing façade of the eight-storey building and 99% of the structure.
