DECC wants to help SME’s understand the scheme

The government has given a powerful signal that it intends to include SMEs in its forthcoming Green Deal retrofitting scheme, by setting a date for its first workshop for small builders on 15 June.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change will host the meeting of half a dozen SMEs and civil servants at a workshop in Whitehall.

The aim of the event is to give builders a better understanding of how they can get involved in the energy efficiency retrofit scheme.

There have been widespread concerns about the retrofit scheme among small builders.

This was highlighted by a recent study showing that 44% of small builders believed that homeowners were unlikely to take up the Green Deal.
