Electricians target contractor Spie Matthew Hall at Ratcliffe power station

Hundreds of electricians targeted Ratcliffe power station in Nottingham on Friday, as protests over changes to electrical workers pay and conditions intensified.

Eight of the industry’s largest electrical contractors have agreed to ditch a 40-year-old wage agreement between employers and workers in favour of drawing up a new agreement.

Union Unite opposes the changes and claims workers face a pay cut if the contractors get their way.

The workers were targeting electrical contractor Spie Matthew Hall, one of the eight breakaway contractors, although it is understood the protesting workers are employed under a different agreement and will not be affected by the proposed changes.
