Lewis Jones charged with growing firm’s offsite business

The offsite arm of the Wates-owned SES Engineering Services has recruited former Laing O’Rourke operations manager Lewis Jones as its new general manager.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Jones (pictured) left Laing O’Rourke at the end of last year where he was in charge of the firm’s joinery business in Dubai and also had a spell as the operations manager for its dry-lining business.

Jones has been brought in to help expand SES’s Prism offsite manufacturing business which is based just outside York.

SES has been handed a £300m growth strategy over the next three years and Jones will help oversee the firm’s offsite work which has seen it launch so-called ‘prefabricated service cupboards’ which incorporate M&E, plant and equipment, for sites in London.

SES managing director Jason Knights said: “Lewis’ appointment is strategically important as it reflects the importance and commitment we place in offsite manufacturing.”

Earlier this summer, SES poached Balfour Beatty veteran Steve Tovey to become its Midlands and South West regional director. Tovey, who spent 40 years at Balfour, is based at the firm’s Birmingham office.
