Angela Rayner to set out more details on Wednesday of the new programme, along with updates on Decent Homes 2, minimum energy efficiency standards and reforms to Right to Buy

The government wants to build 300,000 new homes through its new Social and Affordable Homes Programme, more than half of which will be let at social rent.

At the spending review last month, housing minister Angela Rayner was handed a huge funding package of £39bn for her Social and Affordable Homes Programme (SAHP).
