Blocks for building house walls have been used to create intricate totem poles sculptures

Lightweight aircrete blocks normally used for building house walls have been put to a novel use - creating intricately detailed totem pole sculptures.

School teacher and artist Peter Rowe normally uses the blocks, supplied from H+H UK's production plant at Borough Green, for year 10 pupils to apply computer aided design and manufacture skills learnt as part of their GCSE technology studies.

"Pete's art is unusual and looks delightful," said H+H UK marketing & communications manager Jenny Smith-Andrews. "It's a pleasure to be able to support Pete passing on his craft to benefit the pupils' design skills."
