But Green Construction Board co-chair warns of tougher times ahead

The Green Construction Board has already completed a quarter of its work, construction minister Mark Prisk has said.

The Green Construction Board was set up last October to take forward the government’s Low Carbon Construction Action Plan.

Speaking at Ecobuild this week, Prisk said the board had now completed a quarter of the key tasks set out in the plan.

“We know that in a tough economic market there will be businesses that say, ‘Do we need to be doing this now?’ But actually it’s an opportunity,” Prisk said.

Dan Labbad, chief executive of Lend Lease and co-chair of the board, said: “I dare say that first 25% is some of the easy things. It’s going to get harder.”

He said he wanted the board become a “trusted adviser” to government and be involved in developing policy early.
