M&E contractor says expanded facility will be four times size of current one

T Clarke improved profit and pre-tax margins last year as the M&E specialist said it was embarking on a major expansion of its offsite facilities in Essex.

Revenue in the year to March dropped to £645m from £847m for the 15 months to March 2025. The monthly turnover figure during the period works out at £53.7m from £56.5m last time.

But the firm said pre-tax profit was up to £19.6m – the equivalent of £1.6m and up from the £1.08m a month last time, taking margins up to just under 3% from 1.9% last time.

T Clarke is now owned by gas supplier Regent

T Clarke was delisted from the London Stock Exchange in summer 2024 after being bought by gas supplier Regent for £90.5m.

The firm said £364m of revenue came from its built environment business with a further £282m from its technologies and infrastructure work.

In a note accompanying the accounts filed at Companies House, the firm said it was looking at boosting its offsite capabilities. It added: “We are progressing plans for a major expansion of our offsite manufacturing capability through a new 100,000 square ft engineering and manufacturing facility which is strategically located adjacent to the A12 with direct access to the M25 and London. At four times the size of our existing facility, the new facility will significantly enhance our prefabrication and modularisation capabilities.”

It added that its order book was more than £1bn and that year-end cash was down to £26m from £40m last time.

The accounts were signed off by chief executive Mark Lawrence last month on 9 July before it was announced five days later that he was leaving with immediate effect.
