Rise in engineering firm’s UK contracting and consultancy turnover offsets drop in activity in other markets
Mott MacDonald has reported a 12% drop in pre-tax profit.

The engineering firm in its accounts for the year to 31 December 2025, reported pre-tax profit of £107.8m, compared to £123.3m the previous year. Its operating profit fell 11% to £89.7m.
The firm said the fall in operating profit was due to it enhancing its employee-ownership model and said its underlying performance was otherwise comparable to last year.
The group’s turnover dipped slightly by 1.4% to £2.48bn.
It said this “flat revenue performance” was due to increases in contracting and consulting revenue in its UK business being offset by drops in turnover from consultancy in US, Canada, Australia and Hong Kong. UK business revenue increased from £1.4bn to £1.5bn, but every other region saw a drop.
The business increased its contracting revenue £563m to £599m, but its consultancy turnover fell £1.95m to £1.88m.
It said: “Consultancy business revenues were down 3.7% year on year with continuing economic and political uncertainties adversely impacting volumes across global markets and some large projects being deferred or cancelled.”
