Paint manufacturer Johnstone’s has developed Microbarr, an antibacterial coating it claims will eradicate 99.9% of surface bacteria in 18 hours

Formulated to help prevent the spread of bacteria that can lead to”superbugs” such as MRSA and E.coli, the paint has been developed using silver ion technology that protects against over 150 strains of bacteria while providing a tough, washable surface. Microbarr is suitable for use in hospital wards, doctors’ surgeries, veterinary hospitals, abattoirs, schools and retirement homes.

The Microbarr coating has been tested to the Japanese industry tests, JIS Z 2801. The product range comprises Antibacterial Acrylic Matt and Acrylic Eggshell and is available in 15,000 colours through the use of 32 colourant tinting machines.
