A total of 80m2 of Hunter Douglas ash grill ceiling has been used in the £44m upgrade to the campus accommodation of Leicester college.

The system is fitted to natural-coloured suspension dowels and clips to achieve a seamless appearance. Each panel can be demounted to give access to heating and ventilation and lighting systems in the plenum above. Circular compact fluorescent downlighters are also integrated into the system to enhance the levels of natural daylight entering through the glazed entrance and skylights. Hunter Douglas says the design of the ceiling system lends itself to fast installation. Acoustic and fire-rated versions are also available.
