Knauf Insulation has launched a new mineral wool insulation incorporating ECOSE Technology, which, it claims, has less embodied energy than existing mineral wool products
Products with ECOSE Technology have a natural, formaldehyde-free binder made from rapidly renewable organic materials instead of petroleum-based chemicals. The technology has been developed for Knauf Insulation’s glass and rock mineral wool products, and it says it enhances their environmental credentials without affecting thermal, acoustic or fire performance.
The manufacturer claims the ECOSE Technology binder is up to 70% less energy intensive than traditional oil-based binders and that products made using it contain no dye or artificial colours.
