Sketch of the week: London Design Festival

This week’s #buildingdoodle model is by Juliet Quintero of Dallas-Pierce-Quintero. She was commissioned to design this bird’s nest-shaped lookout seat by Sir John Sorrell, chairman of the London Design Festival, to create a space for contemplation and reflection. The planks of red oak were thermally modified to make the piece more durable for outdoor use and the piece was structurally engineered by Arupfor artificial light and allow natural ventilation.The idea was conceived by the American Hardwood Export Council.
