Proposal by developer Yoo Capital includes 11 sound stages and 485 homes

Camden council has approved Yoo Capital’s plans for a £1bn film quarter masterplan designed by architect and masterplanner SPPARC.

The project in Kentish Town aims to create a leading film and TV production campus.

It will feature 11 purpose-built sound stages, production and post-production facilities, creative workspace and specialist education areas. Studios will be arranged vertically to optimise land use.

The scheme will include sound stages and new homes

The scheme will also include 485 homes, half of which have been earmarked as being affordable and will be built in partnership with Places for People.

Broadway Malyan was involved with the design of the homes, while the design team for the masterplan also includes Spacehub on landscapes and Atelier Ten on sustainability.

The 3.14ha site is bordered by railway lines to the north and west and is located just west of Kentish Town Road. It currently comprises a series of industrial buildings and warehouses, including a police station, recycling centre and vehicle pound. The grade II-listed Kentish Town police station will be retained and reused as part of the scheme.

Yoo Capital bought the site in April 2023.
