Four seriously hurt while sitting exams at Kent school after heating duct falls from ceiling

Schoolchildren were left seriously injured on Tuesday after part of a school building collapsed on them while they were sitting an exam.

The incident happened at Minster College on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, as year nine pupils sat their exams in a sports hall.

Thirteen children were injured, four seriously, when a heating duct collapsed.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 9am, when six teenagers were taken by ambulance to hospital, four of them with serious neck, head or back injuries.

An ambulance service spokesperson said that no student was believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.
