Paul McCartney’s old school in Liverpool to be turned into £15.5m housing scheme

Up to 140 new homes are set to be built as work on redeveloping of a former Liverpool primary school attended by a young Paul McCartney continues.

Regeneration firm Compendium Living – a joint venture by partnership housing developer Lovell and The Riverside Group – has appointed Lovell for a £15.5m scheme to build up to 114  two-, three- and four-bedroom homes for open market sale at the former Joseph Williams School site in Belle Vale.

Work on the new homes for sale is set to start soon with the overall housing development scheduled to be complete in 2020.

Work is already under way by Compendium Living on 16 shared ownership houses and 10 apartments, houses and bungalows for affordable rent for Riverside at the Belle Vale site.

Compendium Living managing director Dave Bullock said: “We are delighted to be embarking on the next phase of our plan to provide high-quality new homes and environments at Belle Vale.”

Lovell regional director Nigel Yates said the proposals would “provide the new modern, high-quality homes for rent and for sale for which there is such a pressing need locally”.

The new homes will feature high-efficiency boilers and will meet the Lifetime Homes Standard.
