Sports minister Richard Caborn says West Ham is in negotiations about moving to the main 2012 stadium

Football club West Ham United is in serious talks with Olympic authorities about moving into the main 2012 stadium after the Games.

According to a BBC report, sports minister Richard Caborn said that there was “a very serious negotiation going on” between the two parties.

West Ham has been linked with a move to the Olympic stadium for a long time.

It would be a similar move to that made by Manchester City, which moved to the Commonwealth Games stadium in 2002.

West Ham is reportedly the subject of a takeover approach from two parties – one led by Iranian businessman Kia Joorabchian and another Eggert Magnusson, a Uefa executive committee member.

The BBC said that both were thought to being favour of West Ham moving to the Olympic stadium.
