Firms compete for quantity surveyor role on KPF-designed bank project
Capita Symonds, Davis Langdon, EC Harris and Turner & Townsend are all competing for a role to help Goldman Sachs draw up plans for a mooted £300m London headquarters.
Building understands the quantity surveyors have all held discussions with Goldman Sachs this month, with an appointment expected imminently. All four QSs are on Goldman Sachs’ global QS framework, although it is thought the client may have also approached consultants outside the framework.
The global investment bank - dubbed by critics as the “great vampire squid” for its perceived role in the financial crisis - appointed US-based architecture practice KPF to design the scheme earlier this month.
The new office - which will be on the southern side of Holborn Viaduct - is expected to bring together all 6,000 of the investment bank’s London staff under one roof. It is expected to run across nearly 100,000m2 and be up to nine storeys high by the time it is completed in 2017.
KPF is understood to have overcome competition from architects including Foster and Partners.
