This week’s news from flooring manufacturers

  • BSRIA has launched a guide to underfloor heating and cooling that replaces two earlier guides on the subject. The 117-page document details the advances in the technology, design methods and applications of underfloor systems over the last 10 years. It is aimed at designers, installers and end users. BSRIA hopes, in the guide, to provide straightforward technical guidance to those new to the topic as well as more experienced people. It includes advice on how to size systems before getting information from manufacturers; selecting the most appropriate system; and avoiding mistakes with system selection and installation.
  • Plumbing and heating specialist Uponor has launched an advice service that is accessible from a mobile phone. The site, which is at www.uponoruk.mobi, contains 72 pages and aims to help plumbers and installers with common installation issues. The company said that the site was continually expanding with new information.
  • Steni UK has secured a place on the Achilles list of pre-qualified suppliers to the transport sector for its antislip flooring system. Achilles evaluates and monitors suppliers on behalf of clients, which include 700 of the world’s largest companies. The company said that making the list opened up its product to a wide network of buyers specialising in transport across the UK.
  • RIBA Publishing has launched a book called Concrete: A Studio Design Guide. The publication includes information on concrete mixes that affect design, aesthetics and sustainability.
