An innovative high-performance sports floor system, developed through a partnership between Gerflor and InstaCoustic, has been installed for the first time in the UK at the Moat House leisure and neighbourhood centre in Coventry
The versatile, impact-absorbing floor is suitable for a wide range of sports and non-sporting activities.
About 750m2 of the sprung flooring was installed at the centre. It comprises Gerflor’s Taraflex Sport M+, combined with a loose-laid undercarriage system from InstaCoustic, made up of undulating recycled rubber crumb “waves” pre-bonded to 18mm sustainably sourced plywood.
The floor is fully compliant with European standards for indoor sports – it meets BS EN 14904 and achieves Type C4 floor requirements. The finished flooring is 35mm thick, and the individual panels weigh 13kg.
