Designs for a “conceptual” cultural centre for a West Yorkshire town have gone on show as part of its regeneration plans

The scheme is part of The Castleford Project, which is being run by Wakefield council and Channel 4. The designs, by Cuban artist Carlos Garaicoa, incorporate Castleford’s Roman ruins, a library, a meeting space, and an observatory. The exhibit is on show at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park from 21 January to 27 March 2009. Channel 4 is planning to film the overhaul of the town.
