Newcastle council is searching for a private developer to deliver the city’s housing exposition.

It wants to build 450 homes, as the focus of a three-month international exhibition – the first of its kind in the UK. Newcastle’s aim to use the expo as a launch pad for the construction of up to 1,800 dwellings on a 140 acre site in the Scotswood area of the city. The expo is designed to change peoples’ perceptions of the neighbourhood where the local housing market collapsed in the late 1990s.
