Government investment in cities has had little impact on improving economic performance claims Policy Exchange think tank

Investment in regeneration has had no impact on improving their economic performance, according to a report from centre-right think tank the Policy Exchange.

It finds that despite £30 billion of government money put in to 14 UK cities over the past decade, most are actually declining in economic performance.

The report looked compared under-performing cities including Sheffield Liverpool Hull and Southampton to the wealthiest areas, finding that most had fallen further behind.
