The judges said that the winner had “managed to pull off a series of contextual buildings that really raised the bar in this sector”. While the judges were critical of the general standard of retail design, they said John McAslan & Partners was working on projects that demonstrated “the positive commercial, functional and urban impacts that ambitious mixed-use architecture can bring”.
