Off-site manufacturing specialist will make steel-framed modules for 'super-hospital' off site

Carillion has awarded Premier Interlink (Waco UK) with an £8m advanced works contract for the new "super-hospital" in north Bristol.

The off-site manufacturing specialist will construct 127 steel-framed modules at its factory in East Yorkshire and deliver them to the site by road and crane for the final stages of fitting out.

Premier Interlink will be responsible for building 5,000m² of accommodation space, a chapel, cafe and large catering facility, as well as installing concrete flooring for the imaging suite, clinical engineering offices and pharmacy.

The off-site construction is intended to reduce disruption to staff and visitors on the hospital site significantly and is due to be completed by February 2010.
