CounterShield is a security screen that closes in one second to protect public-facing staff from verbal or physical assault.

The device made by Safetell is available in single or multiple side-by-side options. Sensors stop the screen closing if an obstacle is in the way, before it repeatedly tries to close. The system can be connected to the main power supply, with its electric motor operating off a trickle-charged battery. It functions for up to 20 operations during a power cut. Safetell says it can be retrofitted into most layouts. The fixed panels are made of 11.5mm glass and the moving screens are composed of 8mm thick scratch-resistant polycarbonate.
