Sill Lighting luminaires have played a major role in the lighting of Heathrow’s Terminal 5

The building’s wave-shaped roof is supported by 22 steel “torsos”, each of which has three Sill 467 plane projectors, with 1,000W metal halide lamps mounted on to them to light the roof area. The light is reflected down to the concourse to accentuate the space below.

Projectors are also used for lighting the terminal’s drop-off canopies. These illuminate the canopies and pavement underneath and comprise 500 fittings, each of which has a 35W metal halide lamp mounted on to it.
