The acoustically engineered roof of the O2 arena has been insulated using Rockwool 4 in 1 mineral wool insulation

The roof was designed by specialist WWR Group, which worked with Rockwool’s technical team to ensure it met the acoustic requirements inside the arena. The design incorporates several layers of different density barrier materials carried on acoustic decks. They include perforated aluminium acoustic trays filled with Rockwool RW6 insulation and structural deck troughs filled with Rockwool RW4 insulation and covered with Rockwool acoustic membrane. Two 150mm layers of Rockwool Dual Density HardRock insulation board were used to provide the main insulation, which was overlaid with a Sarna separation fleece and PVC roof membrane.
